In Isolation

We are in the midst of a crisis of epic proportions. Covid-19 is running riot worldwide and here in the UK we are battling to try and keep the virus at bay.

Clearly this is going to be bad, it's just a case of how bad.

In response to government advice, my wife and I, plus the 3 kids we care for are now in no contact isolation. The government have called this shielding - for some though it will be more like solitary confinement.

We are lucky in that respect, there are 5 of us to drive each-other mad. We will be here, for a minimum of 12 weeks, riding out the storm - the storm that will still be raging in 12 weeks time, but hopefully things will have developed and the health service won't have been overstretched by the old and vulnerable. Let's see what happens.

I will try and add daily views to explain the thoughts and difficulties faced by our little group, as time goes on...!

There will be many others out there facing the same challenging times that we are, though maybe not with such a dysfunctional set-up.

Day 151

20/08/2020

This morning was one of those times when our little one wakes early - waking at 4am. I took a bottle into him and got into bed for a while with him. It was clear he wanted to settle, as he constantly roamed his bed like a dog in its basket, but he couldn't settle - when he had gone...

About me

My name is Ian Smith, I am a grandad, a husband and someone who just cares, sometimes too much.

Get in touch

I hope you enjoy, if that's the right word, reading this blog. It wasn't really started to entertain or amuse, but just thoughts and musings that go through my head, in particular during the early hours of the morning!

If you want to, for any peculiar reason, you can always...
