Day 13

04/04/2020

Been another lovely day here in Kent, the sun has been shining, the birds have been tweeting, the strimmers have been strimming and the BBQ's have been lit - yes, people have been having BBQ's. Now I will give them the benefit of the doubt and say that these were BBQ's with their immediate family, but to be honest it didn't sound much like that, sounded more like a Bank Holiday Monday with friends round! Or maybe I just have noisy neighbours...

I really hope that the good weather doesn't make people forget what they are supposed to be doing - the advice to isolate is there for a good reason, it just seems it's a bit difficult for them to understand that it applies to them too!

Got the bar conversion finished, we now have a nice summer house for my wife to sit in when the weather really heats up like it's supposed to later this week. The pansies have all been potted up and I now have a decent collection of hanging baskets to look after, hopefully this year they will last, as I have no excuse not to keep them watered and dead headed...

It's been lovely today, watching our little one playing in the garden. He has a play barn, kitted out with soft play toys and activities, things to help him grow and learn and keep him safe at the same time.

He loves bouncing on his trampoline, but today, with the weather being so good he managed to partake in probably his favourite thing of all... water! He just loves water, so much so we have to keep a really close eye on him wherever there is water. Only last week, after we had some rain, I had to stop him drinking water off the end of his slide!

Today I had to nearly literally fish him out of our water feature, as he clearly hadn't noticed it last year when it was running - today he was like a moth to a flame. As quick as I brought him away he would go back. Eventually, sort of giving in to his needs we brought a washing up bowl of water out for him. Initially the hands went in, testing the water so to speak. Then he dipped the top of his head in and then went full face into the water. He was in his element! Finally he tipped the bowl of water over himself and looked surprised at the result...

It was just lovely to see what again was a "normal" family activity, taking place on a lovely day - just for the day it was easy to forget there was anything wrong in the world - that is until you turn the TV on and see the news.

We have decided the best thing to do is to not listen to the news, I am sure if there is anything important that we need to know then someone will tell us, or we will get another letter from Boris! Until then, we are just going to live in our own little "shielded" world and forget the rest until we have to face it.
